Today Tritton Technologies is announcing their AXPC headphones for PC. These headphones are USB powered and promise to deliver true 5.1 audio via one single USB connection. A removable mic works for online gaming and VOIP as well.
Each ear cup uses four speakers for center, front, rear and subwoofer along with an integrated in-line audio control with volume adjustments for the individual channels. A master volume and a mic mute switch are also included.
Software is included that allows you to simulate 2.1 to 7.1 surround sound from audio recorded in stereo only. In addition to the four speakers in each ear cup rumble technology is used which vibrates in time to sounds in games.
"The AX360 headphones paved the way for a new generation of high-performance, true surround sound gaming headsets, and now the AXPC packages the most advanced audio technology for PC gamers," said Chris Von Huben, president of TRITTON Technologies. "These things are truly amazing, allowing any gamer to immerse themselves in an audio nirvana, hearing and feeling everything that transpires in the game with depth and spatial accuracy."
You can also select from 23 different EQ settings to customize the listening experience to your liking. Surround sound headphones are a great way to gain an edge in online games by allowing you to hear what is going on behind you. I have requested a review set of these headphones and shortly we will see if a totally USB set of headphones can compete with the likes of the Razer Barracuda headphones. Story and image via Tritton
