SGI: For Fast, Reliable Service From Les Taxis Bleus!

Every year, an estimated 30 million visitors come down to the romantic city of Paris. Paris depends on its taxis to transport these visitors anywhere they want to go. The City of Lights has powered its leading taxi company using the latest enterprise - the class compute and storage solution from SGI! In this system, the city is ensured to meet all the demands of its tourists and visitors!

According to theautochannel.com, the Oracle software-based order processing and reservation management system to a new SGI® Altix® XE server and SGI® InfiniteStorage is being applied by the Les Taxis Bleus or Blue Taxi to guarantee a quick and consistent service to taxi for customers 24 hours daily. The company serves as a booking center for more than 3,000 freelance taxi drivers all over Paris and the Ile-de France or the Paris Region.

"On any given day, we'll take 40,000 calls from customers in need of taxis. We needed a system that shortens wait times for customers and works non-stop, day and night. With this SGI solution running our Oracle database and transaction processing system, we're always ready for the daily onslaught of call and transaction traffic," says Patrick Del'Vecchio, the director, IT systems, Les Taxis Bleus.

The Taxis Bleus system is intended for the city that never sleeps! The system was established to serve the city of Paris efficiently.  The Taxi Bleus system consists of 120 call center agents that receives cab requests through telephone and places them into a reservation system. Cool!
